It is a Mod, Mod Sweater!

Mod Squad Sweater Knit is a striking design that is sure to attract compliments, but it is also a nice light knit that is comfortable for cool weather this spring. One of the great things about this fabric is that you can pair it with so many different colors - black, cream, taupe, green, brown - and it will look sharp with any of them. It goes well with my standard uniform of all black.

Working with "Cool Cardigans" from Pamela's Patterns was a pleasure partly because it includes excellent instructions This pattern has two different front pieces to choose from - the one for a full bust worked well for me. I just narrowed the shoulder a bit before I added a couple inches of ease at the hips, I used the 3/4 option for sleeves. My arms are short, so this length of sleeve lands just about an inch above my wrist.

I decided to skip the mitered corners at the bottom, mostly because of how I wanted to include the selvedge edges in my finished garment. I love the end result, and especially the cool selvedges on the front. The ruched back of the neck gives the sweater a gentle little drape in the front. I used an iron on adhesive for the hems and I am pleased with the result. I think I might sew a tank to go with this.

What I still want to know is - do you think Julie would have worn this?
